The
Queen's Royal Lancers is proud to have Her Majesty as its
Colonel-in-Chief, a position she held since 1947 with the
16th/5th Lancers.

HRH
Princess Alexandra was Colonel-in-Chief of the 17th/21st and
on the creation of The Queen's Royal Lancers she became Deputy
Colonel-in-Chief of the the new regiment.
Major
General AAJR Cumming CBE, Colonel of the Regiment

Andrew
Cumming joined the 17th/21st Lancers in 1968 and became its
Commanding Officer in 1988. He commanded 11 Armoured Brigade
in the Balkans, and after a number of high level Army appointments
he became Controller of SSAFA Forces Help in 2004.
Lieutenant
Colonel JG Adkins, Regimental Secretary

Joe
Adkins joined the 17th/21st Lancers as a Trooper in November
1969. On amalgamation he was the Assistant Adjutant and completed
his military career as the Staff Quartermaster at the Royal
Military Academy Sandhurst. He assumed the appointment of
Regimental Secretary in March 2006.
Captain
JM Holtby, Assistant Regimental Secretary

Mick Holtby joined the 17th/21st Lancers in October 1969.
He was Regimental Sergeant Major from 1988 to 1990 and left
The Queen's Royal Lancers shortly after amalgamation. He was
appointed Assistant Regimental Secretary in March 1994.
